Letter Composition

I met the objective of the assignment by composing a design out of just the letter 'z' and using several artistic skills. I believe my strongest area of my work would be my use of the blend modes and filters on the lettering compared to my weakest which would be my use of layering the letters. Three elements that make my image strong would be my use of blend modes, filters, and gradient. My blend modes helped because the colors contrast well with each other, along with my filter, the design on the letters make the image feel more like its from outer space; as well as my gradient because it gives off a galaxy feel is it starts as purple and transitions into a blue. I could improve on my creativity and explore the Photoshop app more to discover new things. I could also improve on the way I position the letters and try to position them in a different manner. Lastly, I feel as thought I could've made the paint splatter more visible. I believe that I tried my best overall and I don't think it is horrible for my first time, something I would change about this process is that I bend the rules a bit and try to explore on my own.

Nirrimi Firebrace

     

     Nirrimi's mother was a writer and her father was a indigenous storyteller. Her father left her when she was very young. Her mother met her stepfather and that's when her inner artist escaped. She as abused by her stepfather and other men in her life She says on her website (nirrimi.com) she states, "life was a meaningless mess that i could sculpt into something meaningful with my words." When she discovered photography she fell in love and she knew this is what she wanted to pursue for her career. Finding school and her small hometown useless for her photography, at age 15 she left to a big city with her lover at the time. she began to get interviewed by magazines and won awards. At 19 she was pregnant and had her daughter, Alba Joy Firebrace. When she broke off hr relationship she became a single mom and began to travel with her suitcase by her side. Nirrimi also struggled with anxiety. Then her younger brother had unfortunately killed himself leaving her distraught and in grief. even in heartbreak and grief she still grew. She also funded a creative co-working space called Common Good Studio. Although her stubbornness, she eventually found love with her partner.

     Her colorful and realistic photos are what drove me to her work. I like that Nirrimi takes photos of youthful people and things. Another thing I picked up on in her photography is that she bases some of her work off of her past childhood memories. On the website of the company Nirrimi is represented by (Adolescentcontent.com) she has titles for her photography and one is named 'Runaways.' At age 16 Nirrimi ran away from home and had fallen in love. She fell in love at a young age which relates to her other work of photography named 'Young Love.' I also love that she takes photographs her life.On her website (nirrimi.com) she has a section titled 'Life' and it includes pictures of her family and friends. I liked this because its showing people a different/personal side of the artist.

Depth of Field

Changing the focal point changes the viewers perspective of the photo drastically. In the first photo the background and model are seen clearly while in the second photo the you can see small details on the tree. Depending on which photo, viewers will either focus on the model or the definition of the leaves on the tree.
